Team Profile – Joe Burgess

As a company known for its people and the relationships we have with our customers, we thought we’d start putting the spotlight on some of our team, to give you the opportunity to learn more about them and their roles. This week, we’re starting with Joe Burgess, who’s our Sales Account Manager.
Hi Joe! So, tell us, what is your professional background? Did you always work in the industry?
Yes, actually. I gigged and toured as a Session Drummer, Drum Technician and Stage Manager for a number of years.
Fantastic! So what does your current role at SFL entail day-to-day? How does this feed into the wider company as a whole?
My current role requires me to support customers with their Audio purchasing needs. This often means giving advice on the right products to offer them the best outcome for the intended use. In the Sales department, we don’t just want to sell a requested product but instead make sure this is the best fit for the customer, in terms of features and budget. Often, our customers have hired from us or used our technical services in the past before purchasing the product themselves, meaning our work in the Sales team becomes part of their wider journey with the company.
What do you like about your role?
In my role, I like to give customers the confidence that what they are buying will not just sound great but is right for its specific use on their projects or in their venues.
Do you have a particularly memorable project/event you worked on as part of your role?
I was fortunate enough to be involved in a long-running local performance venue, to which we supplied a brand-new sound system. This offered the building a new lease of life and meant it could continue being a place that offered up-and-coming bands a platform to perform as well as remain a vibrant part of the local community.
Any other comments?
Just that SFL has been such a welcoming place to work. Everyone is extremely supportive of personal development within all of the roles in the company and it’s great to build a relationship with our diverse range of customers.
