Proud to support The Princes Trust

Invest in Futures Gala, a fundraising event, took place at The Savoy Hotel, on The Strand in London.

It saw philanthropists and supporters coming together to raise £1.5m, which will help young people who are unemployed, struggling at school or at risk of exclusion to get their lives on track. Featuring exclusive performances from Laura Mvula and Texas, the West Side Story inspired evening was attended by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales alongside supporters from across the globe who helped to raise vital funds for their work.

As part of our support of The Princes Trust, SFL Group supplied technical support including lighting setups in each room, audio systems for the 14 ways of radio mic used across 3 venues for the immersive theatre experience as well as full video, sound and lighting production in the main ballroom where a silent auction took place, featuring a range of unique lots donated by supporters of The Trust, including a Spice Girl’s tour and meet and greet and an Aston Martin driving experience. Alongside the entertainment and auction, the audience also heard the inspiring stories of several Prince’s Trust Young Ambassadors.

Our team were proud to support this event, and a great cause raising over £1.5m. Spending a whole day putting in d&b V & Y Series PA, with Digico SD10 & SD12 control solution, utilising PSM1000 & Sennheiser 300 Series in ear monitors and radio microphones for the various acts. Running 14 channels of DPA D:Fine headset microphones for the immersive cast of West Side Story, travelling between 3 venues, amplified the whole time.

The lighting team bringing a rig of Robe Pointe, Robe Spiider and ETC generic fixtures spread throughout the hotel to create an atmosphere that tied all the venues together for the immersive feel of the evening, all controlled by an ETC Ion. 8 distributed screens controlled from a Barco PDS 902, showed the silent auction information throughout the night, with slides and pictures showing information from The Princes Trust.

Working in a venue with such prestige and alongside a charity so well respected, our main aim was to create an effective solution that met the criteria 100% but also one that looked slick and finished, not out of place in such a venue. Bringing together the various different worlds and tastes, using techniques from the worlds of theatre, rock and roll and corporate to put on an event that ticked all the boxes and had a huge impact on the future of young people in this country and beyond.
